A Double Win for InHaus at the 2013 Fraser Valley Building Awards

INHaus_FVawardsWe were very honored to be included as one of the nominees for the 2013 Fraser Valley Commercial building awards. Over 44 amazing projects were nominated this year, from Surrey, Langley, White Rock Abbotsford & Mission. The award criteria required a building or renovation to compliment the surrounding properties and area, be aesthetically pleasing, include unique architectural features, and answer a specific development need within the community.

Our LEED Platinum Beachaus 1 & 2 project in White Rock BC received the Award of Excellence in the Multi-Family category. The project involved rezoning & reorienting two small lots, allowing us to construct two fully “daylit”, ultra-efficient smart homes. The homes were very unique and the project serves as a great example for sustainable infill development in the White Rock area. The project will also be featured in an upcoming issue of the Fraser Valley Business Examiner.

As a total surprise, InHaus Development was also awarded the 2013 Fortis BC Green Building Award for excellence in sustainable development & construction. We are proud to be recognized for the extra work which we put into each sustainable project that we work on, and very happy that awareness of green building practices is rapidly improving year after year throughout the Fraser Valley, and the Pacific Northwest.

InHaus is pleased to unveil our new LEED® For Homes project management services, designed to offer builders, contractors & architects a hands-on solution for success within the LEED® program. Our LEED® for Homes consultation services are designed to compliment the services provided by the “green rater” and guarantee smooth and effective incorporation of the LEED for Homes guidelines into all design and construction phases of the project.

InHaus works with clients to maximize all attainable LEED points on each project in order to create the healthiest possible environment for the building, while minimizing its ecological footprint. We also organize the LEED submittal documentation throughout, streamlining the process, and ensuring a hassle free submission to obtain formal LEED certification while minimizing additional time & expense.

Certified Green Home Values Outperform By 30%

Over the past four years we have been following the development of a number of single family “green” homes in Portland, Oregon. Portland pretty much boasts the highest concentration of certified homes (ie: LEED, Earth Advantage, Energy Star) in the northwestern US. As these homes have been built, sold, and even resold, a strong pattern is emerging that the resale values of certified green homes dramatically outperform standard non-green homes of similar age and size.

According to the Earth Advantage Institute, existing homes with sustainability certification sold for an amazing 30 percent more than homes without. This isn’t an overnight phenomena, as the resale data shows the values have been increasing year over year, for the last 4 years that they have been able to track the data.
